This is the second time Amanda Seyfried has starred in a film directed by Atom Egoyan since Chloe (2009). Referenced in Amanda the Jedi Show: I ALMOST Walked Out | The Best and Worst of TIFF 2023 (2023). Seyfried’s acting is excellent. The reality turns out to be even more tragic and complicated than the opera’s plot. Or maybe we could say it’s a way of conveying a reality as dramatic as an opera, without distracting from the work they all do. I enjoyed it, even if the subject matter can be difficult to watch at times. A director’s work can be fascinating and I really liked the way she developed it, without questioning herself even though she is new, even when everyone seems against her, or even when they all try to make fun of her and assume that they all know more than her because they are part of it.
