Smile 2 started hard and fast
Skye Riley: [Smile Entity] You’re not in control, I am! . Featured in The 7PM Project: Episode 17 October 2024 (2024). Its long "taking one" An intense and frenetic opening, continuing the original. The cinematography and lighting were excellent, the use of panning shots and the use of reflections certainly added to the thrilling sequences.Naomi Scott!
What a performance
The descent into madness was terrifying (excellent). I would love to see an actress in a horror film get an Oscar nomination, but unfortunately that genre is hard to crack when it comes to awards season. She was messy and genuine. I would like to see more of her in similar roles. Unfortunately (in my opinion) the film relied too much on its jump scares and loud noises.
Afraid to jump
I understand that they are an important tool for the genre, but they should be utilized in a way that adds to the story rather than scaring the audience. The film really shined not in the straight but in the more moving and tense scenes. Shout out to the dance team’s apartment scene. The scenes where the audience realizes that Skye is actually hallucinating are the most memorable and give more weight than the jump scares. I would appreciate if you could look into our company’s lore a little more.
to its origin and history
Hence, the overall story needs a sequel that offers more. One scene where the director decided to go with CGI over practical effects (I know others will feel the same way). This was extremely disappointing and was dropped at the last minute. The film gave the audience some great thrills and one great performance. However, the film’s heavy reliance on jump beer and flash-ness took away from the gritty and dark tone of the original.
